
Maxwell Render 是一款基于光波理论的渲染器,可以不依附其他三维软件就可以独立运行的渲染软件。
采用了光谱的计算原理,按照完全精确的算法和公式来重现光线的行为,打破了长久以来光能传递等渲染技术,渲染结果更加逼真。
Maxwell中所有的元素,比如灯光发射器,材质,灯光等等,都是完全依靠精确的物理模型产生的。可以纪录场境内所有元素之间相互影响的信息,所有的光线计算都是使用光谱信息和高动态区域数据来执行的。

Maxwell还引入了全新的凹凸贴图和法线贴图系统。
而distant emitters(距离发射器)产生的焦散效果也得到了提高,在新版本中使用更少的时间就能生成更好的焦散效果。
Maxwell Render包括了几乎所有主流3d软件的接口插件,包括 犀牛rhino、maya、cinima4D (c4d)、sketchup、solidworks x64、formz、archicad、lightwave、xsi、3ds max 2008。
Glibc 2 是最新版的 GNU C 函式库。它目前不需修改就可以在 GNU Hurd,Linux i386, m68k, 以及 alpha 系统上执行,而 2.1 版中将加入对 Linux PowerPC, MIPS, Sparc, Sparc 64 与 Arm 等系统的支持。未来将加入对其它架构及作业系统的支持。

Maxwell Render is the result of Next Limit´s research into physically based rendering methods for easily and realistically simulating light behaviour.
